Imagine This

I just wanted to share with everyone the amazing night that we had on our Island this past Saturday....
So New York is full of activities the whole summer, I mean every night week nights included you can find a movie in the park or a concert or something, usually you can find a few huge events each night to attend-and the best part they are all free!!!
This is an amazing place to be for the summer, and honeslty the heat hasnt gotten to me yet-let's just say being raised in Bakersfield has helped!
SO imagine this, its 10pm when Mike and I begin our treck to South Point, a rugged undeveloped park area at the very tip of the island. To get there we pass under the Queens Borrow Bridge walk pass a hospital and down a rugged trail to our destination. The crunch of rocks beneath our feet and the smell of trees quickly remind us of being in the back country hiking (you know how bad we miss hiking when a little gravel leaves us longing for the mountains!) There we were walking along the "trail" beside the river as we pass a CASTLE that is lit up beautifully for all to admire, really it is the ruins of a small pox hospital from the 1800's but it really looks like an ancient castle with ivy climbing up its towers-gorgeous! We continue our journey arriving at our destination were we are welcomed by warm popcorn...it was "date night" at Roosevlet Islands movie in the park. Unlike all of the other movie in the parks that New Yorkers enjoy this one was a little "secret"- we had plenty of room to spread out our blanket and cuddle up to the classic love story from our "generation" Jerry McGuire...there we were enjoying the warm summer night that graced us with its gentle breezes, behind us we could see the castle, and to the left of us the industrial city scape of queens, the river surrounded us from all angles and the beautiful Manhattan lights scattered across its waters, the Cyrsler building, the most beautifull in NYC stood proudly beside us, and the Manhattan Bridge skated across the waters in front of us, it was truly a moment that is etched into my memory forever! Ahh how I love this city, we are where we are destined to be, we have only just begun our journey and we wait in anticipation for all the Lord has for us.

"Summer Time!"

So we aren't in California-but the beaches are just as fun, white sand, hot sun, cold water, fun friends what more do we need!
I took the Long Island Rail Road with some friends for a beach adventure on Saturday.
We had a blast (poor Mike he was working on a big proposal! I have such an awesome guy!)
Anyhow it was awesome, we layed out, played football-yes I did-swam, or rather got tossed around in the ocean, and laughed alot! Aren't we so cute here, Veronica, Marissa, Anna, Me and Naomi!

Fourth of July at Mike and Misha's

Let's just say we had an amazing 4th!
Mike and I hosted a huge party! We rented out the community room on the first floor and the back patio that had umbrella covered tables-which was perfect because it was raining off and on all night, which was nice bc it cut back the New York heat :).. 50 of our friends celebrated with us, which was super special-to think we have only been here 8 months and already the Lord has provided us with a solid community of awesome friends. We had ppl from church and Mike's work and the building etc.., and we all just had a blast (as you can see in one of the photos one of the guys, Cyril, was scheming in the bathroom preparing water balloons to attack ppl with! ) We had a ton of food, thanks everyone, and as you can see a ton of desserts too.
And the most eventful moment was when our friend Nii proposed to Nana on the roof top during one of the huge NYC fireworks shows, during the show Mike called out the signal "I love fireworks!!" and Nana turned around to find huge signs spelling out "will you marry me" held by all of our friends! Can you see the surprised look on her face! So sweet! We were all cheering for like ever! It was special to have been apart of their special moment. Congrats guys!
